1. Application
1.1 These General Terms and Conditions apply to all registrations for both DUTCH GROUP COURSES and TAILOR MADE DUTCH CLASSES, booked by students with Your Dutch Teacher, and are applicable from the moment that the student registers (through the website, by e-mail, by phone or face to face) for one or more courses.
2. Dutch Group Courses
2.1 All group courses take place online in a virtual classroom. The student will receive the course details, such as lesson materials and a link to participate in the online class, by e-mail before the course starts.
2.2 Your Dutch Teacher’s group courses are divided into eight different proficiency levels. When a student, who has not participated in a Dutch course with Your Dutch Teacher before (but, for example, has participated in a Dutch course at another school, or has studied Dutch by themselves), is not certain of their level, they can visit www.yourdutchteacher.nl/what-is-my-level/ If the student is still not certain, they can contact Your Dutch Teacher to find out which level is most suitable. Registering for a level is always at the student’s own risk. If it turns out during the course that the chosen level is either too easy or too difficult, it is not possible to change the registration.
2.3 A group course covers one of Your Dutch Teacher’s eight proficiency levels. Each course takes 4 weeks and contains of 8 classes of 90 minutes each. The classes take place twice per week, on fixed days and times. The student is made aware of the class schedule when registering for a course.
2.4 In case a student misses one or more classes, this is at their own risk. Your Dutch Teacher is in no way obliged to give a refund of the lesson fee. However, a video recording of the missed class(es) can be made, so that the student can follow the class in their own time.
3. Tailor Made Dutch Classes
3.1 All tailor made classes take place online in a virtual classroom, unless otherwise agreed by the teacher and the student. The student will receive the course details, such as lesson materials and a link to participate in the online class, by e-mail before the course starts.
3.2 Tailor made classes can be booked as 1-on-1 classes, but it is also possible to book tailor made classes for 2 or more individuals (with a maximum of 6 students in one group). The hourly rate is based on the amount of students in the group, as is stated in article 4.3.
3.3 The content of the tailor made classes is determined by the teacher and student(s) before the classes start. The content depends on the learning goals of the student(s).
3.4 Tailor made classes can be rescheduled until 48 hours before the starting time of the class. Classes that are cancelled within 48 hours before the starting time of the course, will be lost.
3.5 The schedule for tailor made classes will be determined in consultation with the student. The classes will take place on a fixed day and time every the week, unless otherwise agreed by the teacher and the student.
3.6 The classes are valid for a limited amount of time. This time depends on the number of hours that the student books (i.e., the more classes the student books, the longer they will be valid). The student will be made aware of this before the registration takes place.
3.7 If the student has rescheduled their class more than 4 times according to the requirements listed in 3.4, and the enddate of the course will therefore be extended by 4 weeks or more, Your Dutch Teacher will no longer be able to guarantee the agreed upon day and time. The classes will however still be valid according to terms described in 3.6, and new dates and times will be determined in consultation with the student.
4. Payment and Pricing
4.1 The payment of the courses takes place via the website (www.yourdutchteacher.nl), or by bank transfer. Enrollment is definite from the moment of payment. If a student has not paid the course fee by the expiration date mentioned on the invoice, the spot that they reserved in a group course and/or the time slot that they reserved for tailor made classes will be lost.
4.2 The standard fee to participate in a group course is €199 per level. However, in some cases Your Dutch Teacher shall offer a discount on the course fee. The discount can apply to a specific student and/or to a specific course period or discount period, and no rights may be derived from it.

The discount can apply to a specific student and/or to a specific course period or discount period, and no rights may be derived from it.

In that case, the student can receive a complete refund of the course fee, or they can change their registration to another course, according to the terms listed in 7.1. If the student has substantial reasons for not being able to attend on the new date, they will receive a refund of the missed class or classes.
6.2. If a course for which the student has registered has less than 3 participants, Your Dutch Teacher will cancel the course. The student will get the opportunity to change their registration to a different course and will be offered a discount to make up for the inconvenience. If the student does not wish to make use of this offer, their registration will be cancelled and they will receive a full refund.

7.1 When a student has registered for a course, but is unable to join the course due to unforeseen circumstances, it is possible to change the registration to a course of the same level that starts on a different date, provided: i) there is still a spot available in the course of the student’s choice; ii) the student has informed the school in per e-mail (info@yourdutchteacher.nl) at least 14 days prior to the starting date of the course that they will not be able to attend; iii) the student has not changed this registration before; iv) the student has paid the normal lesson fee of €199 for the course. In case the student has paid a special discount fee for the course, it is not possible to change the registration.
7.2 It is possible for the student to transfer their registration to someone else, provided that the student sends an e-mail to info@yourdutchteacher.nl at least 3 days before the starting date of the course, mentioning the details of the new student (i.e. first and surname, address, e-mail address, and phone number). Your Dutch Teacher cannot play a role in finding someone to take over the place of the student, or in transferring the payment to the new student.
8. Waiting list
8.1 When the course of the student’s liking is full, the student can ask Your Dutch Teacher to be put on the waiting list for this course. When a registered student of this particular course cancels their registration, the open spot will be offered to the first student on the waiting list. They then have a limited amount of time to accept or decline the spot, which will be stated in the email. If the spot is declined, or if Your Dutch Teacher does not receive the student’s reply within the time limit, the spot will be offered to the next person on the waiting list.
8.2 No rights can be derived from being on the waiting list.
9. Newsletter
